Junior Software Engineer - AI Tech

    • Nis
  • Technology

Job description

The AI Tech team is focused on building practical AI-powered tools and prototypes for different parts of the business.

The team works on early stage ideas, tests what is technically possible, and helps decide which concepts are worth developing further. Some projects turn into production products, while others stay as experiments. The goal is to move quickly, learn from real use cases, and build things that are useful.

This role is a good fit for someone early in their engineering career who wants to work with modern AI tools, learn from experienced engineers, and be involved in building new products from the ground up.

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and product stakeholders on new AI-related projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Helping build and test functional prototypes and internal tools

  • Writing clean, understandable code with support from senior team members

  • Using AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex or similar assistants as part of your workflow

  • Reviewing and validating AI-generated code instead of relying on it blindly

  • Working with APIs, databases, automation tools, and modern web technologies

  • Sharing progress clearly through Jira and team communication channels

  • Asking for help early when something is blocked or unclear

  • Taking part in discussions about technical approach, product value, and project direction

What we’re looking for

We are not looking for someone who simply copies or approves code from AI tools without understanding it. We are looking for a junior engineer with a solid technical foundation, curiosity, and the ability to think through problems.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Enjoy experimenting with new tools and technologies

  • Have used AI coding assistants and understand both their value and their limitations

  • Can learn a new framework, library, or API reasonably quickly

  • Care about why something is being built, not only how it is implemented

  • Communicate clearly when you are stuck, unsure, or need feedback

  • Are comfortable working in a team where priorities may change as ideas are tested

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 0–2 years of software development experience; internships, freelance work, university projects, or strong personal projects

  • Solid understanding of at least one of the following: JavaScript (TypeScript), Python, or Node.js

  • Understanding of core programming concepts such as APIs, databases, object-oriented programming, and basic system design

  • Some hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex, Antigravity or similar

  • Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Nice to have

  • Experience building small web applications, scripts, automations, or internal tools

  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, MCPs or AI-related workflows

  • Basic understanding of cloud services, deployment, or CI/CD

  • Interest in product development and rapid prototyping

Why this role

This is not a traditional Junior engineering role focused only on maintenance tasks. You will work on new ideas, contribute to early prototypes, and learn how AI can be used in real software development workflows.

You will get exposure to different business areas, work closely with experienced engineers, and develop the skills needed to build useful AI-assisted products responsibly.

If you enjoy the early stages of building software and want to grow as an engineer in a practical AI-focused environment, we’d be happy to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Private health insurance

  • Sick leave 100% paid

  • Canteen with free meals and drinks

  • Flexible working hours

  • Additional vacation days after two years in the company

We also provide up-to date equipment, entertainment facilities in a modern office right in the city center and more.

Note: Flexible working hours and occasional work from home options in Better Collective help us achieve proper work-life balance. We strongly believe in the magic of teamwork, though, so we come to the office at least three days a week to keep the team spirits high.

Application deadline

We look forward to hearing from you and accept applications until 20th June.
Please submit your CV and cover letter in PDF; only applications submitted in English will be considered.

Expected start date: as soon as possible.
